Interested Klondikers,
Now that cold weather has arrived, it is time to plan for the 2008 Klondike . This year the event will be held on Saturday, February 9at Indian Riffle Park in Kettering (Same location as last year). Some new events are planned in addition to some annual favorites.
What is a Klondike ?
Our version of a Klondike is an outdoor event containing several skilled activities. The boys bring a sled and a few other supplies with them while they travel between activities. While the “real” Klondike in Alaska has dogs pulling the sleds, we utilize the boys to advance their sled. The event has developed into a friendly competition with emphasis on FUN.
Registration forms are enclosed. Feel free to make more copies and distribute to all dens. Early registration gives you a better chance for a desired starting time and avoids the late fee. Deadline is Monday, February 4. The Scout Shop can accept registrations by Fax but call them first. Phone number is 278-4825.
Also enclosed are the instructions and supplies needed for the Klondike .
Questions should be directed to Dan Wathen via email dwathenohio@aol.com or phone 435-2278. Email is best method and you can leave a phone number if you prefer me to call you.
Registration will take place at the Scout Shop. The phone number is 278-4825. They cannot answer specific questions about the Klondike , those need to be addressed to me. Please fill out the registration form with identical information on the top and bottom. I will begin assigning starting times after Christmas.
Let's hope we have snow and appropriate temperatures. As always, safety of everyone is of utmost importance. If weather conditions warrant rescheduling, this will be done. Should the event need to be rescheduled, you will be contacted as
