Cub Scout Klondike (Updated 1/26/2008)

This year the event will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Cricket Holler Scout Camp in Dayton (NEW LOCATION). Some new events are planned in addition to some annual favorites.

What is the klondike?

The Wright Brothers District Klondike consists of cub scouts (usually 3-6) pulling a sled across the park and stopping at “villages” to complete activities. The adults accompany the kids but usually do not participate in the activities. The object is to obtain as many gold nuggets from each location while completing the course in a speedy fashion.

Allow up to 2 hours to complete the course. Make sure everyone is properly dressed for the weather as the event is completely outdoors. Food and hot beverages will be served upon completion. Additional Registration forms and equipment lists are available online (www.wrightbrothersdistrict.org), at the scout shop, or by requesting via email at dwathenohio@aol.com. Feel free to make more copies and distribute to all dens in your pack. Early registration gives you a better chance for a desired starting time and avoids the late fee. Deadline is Monday, January 12. Registration will take place at the Scout Shop and I cannot guarantee your starting time until this is completed. They can accept registrations by Fax but call them first at 278-4825 for details.

Questions should be directed to Dan Wathen via email dwathenohio@aol.com. I will check my email frequently and get back with you. Please reference Klondike in the subject section of your email.

Let’s hope we have snow and appropriate temperatures. As always, safety is of utmost importance.
