Cub Scout Leadership Training

Orientation/Fast Start Training
The Fast Start training provides information to new leaders to aid them in planning and conducting their first meeting. It can also be used to provide orientation to the parents of Tiger, Cub, and Webelos Scouts.. This training provides an overview of the total program of the Boy Scouts of America as well as detailed information on the benefits of Cub scouting and the role of the parents. The Fast Start video tapes are available at the Scout Store. These tapes can be viewed at the store or rented for a two week period. Your Fast Start training can also be taken via the internet at scoutnet.scouting.org/elearning/

Youth Protection Training:
Every leader in Cub Scouting should complete Youth Protection training every two years. This training is a review of the BSA Youth Protection policies and is available at the district training session or via the internet at Volunteers Logon . A leader that takes the Youth Protection training via the internet needs to register on line at the completion of the course. Be sure to include you BSA ID number which can be found on you BSA membership card

New Leader Essentials:
This course is a lead-in to all the leader specific training and is attended by ALL ADULTS NEW TO LEADERSHIP POSITIONS in Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting. The course introduces participants to the vision, mission, and values of the Boy Scouts of America. It also highlights the resources available to Scout leaders (literature, training opportunities, the BSA's professional staff, and other volunteer Scouters), the basic of a Scout units' finances, and an overview of expectations and methods of adult leaders to keep scouting worthwhile, exciting, and safe.

Cub Scout Leader Specific Training:
There are five different courses related to specific Cub Scouting positions. Each leader completes the specific course for his/her position in the program. These courses are:
- Cubmasters and Assistant Cubmasters
- Pack Committee Chairmen and Members
- Tiger Cub Den Leaders and Assistants
- Cub Scout Den Leader and Assistants
- Webelos Den Leaders and Assistants

| Supplemental Training:
Cub Scout Leader Roundtable: Cub Scout leader roundtables are held monthly on a district basis. Den and pack leaders join for fun and fellowship while learning new tricks, stunts, games, crafts, ceremonies, songs, and skits related to the Cub Scout theme and Webelos activity badges for the following month. There are also opportunities for sharing ideas and activities with leaders from other packs. The Wright Brothers district roundtable is held the second Thursday of each month.
